Short Breaks - Beautiful Albany

It is amazing how busy life can get. Some days I think I am crazy when I try to take on too much, but then I have this great feeling of satisfaction. You just have to balance things...I find you need to ensure there is a motivational fit with anything you do. And to get out and about as much as you can, even if it is a day trip or short trips to the country - everyone needs it.

Wishing you a great week and keep smiling.

Breakfast - Wild Poppy

Wild Poppy in Fremantle is the number one breakfast restaurant. If you love Asian foods and enjoy the traditional breakfast then this has both.

I had the chill crab omelet with soy sauce. Very yummy.

Have a great week.

Size it Up by Karin Addams

Size it up

Size isn’t everything. Just because you have a small living space does not mean you can’t live large.

Try a few of these tips to help best utilize your limited space and make your room look – and feel -- bigger.

Color your room bigger. Just like in painting and make-up artistry, light colors make things appear bigger. Choose light-colored paint, like the color-reflective creams or light blues or a lighter variation of your favorite color, for your walls and furniture. If your furniture and walls are a similar color, they blend in together, creating the illusion of less furniture and more space. Even consider painting a portion of the ceiling – about around the edge. This can make the walls seem taller.

Along these lines, make sure the room has good lighting.

If you want a pop of dark color, make it an accent pillow or picture. This can also add depth. But be careful that your color shifts aren’t too abrupt, or it can make the rooms look boxy. Your color should flow and stick to the same color family.

Mirrors. Whether you choose a floor-length mirror or even just small accent mirrors, the reflection can make a space appear more spacious. Feeling adventurous? Consider hanging two mirrors on opposite walls, facing each other. This will double the depth and create an interesting optical illusion.

Draw the eye upward. Hang pictures, shelves and accents higher on the wall. Paint the mouldings white.

Recessed shelving can save space in cramped quarters.

Minimize furniture and clutter. Instead of an armoire, try recessed shelving. Instead of a floor lamp, hang a chandelier or light from the ceiling in the corner, so it’s out of the way.

Get as many things off the floor as possible. Maximize floor space by getting rid of end tables and coffee tables that you don’t actively use. Instead, opt for a cute fold-up table that you can pull out of the closet or from behind the couch, if needed. Push the big pieces of furniture against the wall so they don’t break up the room or interfere with the walkways.

Look for furniture with multiple purposes and storage. For example, instead of an open, free-standing entertainment system, choose one with storage underneath. Many furniture showrooms offer special sections for apartments and space-limited living. Glass-top tables maintain an airy, spacious feeling. So do couches and chairs with exposed legs and open arms.

Get rid of unnecessary decorations (including wall décor and pictures), books, trinkets and papers.

Beijing the Beauty

Beijing - So much to do. One of the most spectacular shows I have ever seen. The Golden Mask Dynasty about an ancient romantic legend, the fragment of distant historical memory. The costumes and performance was amazing. I will never forget the monstrous floods - the water was flooding throughout the theatre - this can not be explained as you have to see it:)

Dim Sims may not take long to eat (especially if you are like me and love them) however making them is not that simple. This photo shows the production line of making Dim Sims.

Oh the view.....I love climbing stairs and you have to, if visiting China - especially to capture the beauty.

Beijing the Dragon.
As you can tell from my blog I had such a wonderful time in Beijing, full of memories and meeting the most wonderful people.

What I loved about the people I met was their genuine politeness, caring and eager to share their culture. There is nothing negative in their life... they just live it! I was inspired by 80 year old men and women who were climbing the China Wall (not the easy side the hard side). This has inspired me to keep fit, I want to climb the wall again and again including when I am 80!

Have a wonderful weekend and remember to always be kind to those you love. Give and you will always receive.

China - A must for everyone

Forbidden City - structure of this place is amazing.

I have just come back from China and had an amazing experience. Met the most wonderful people who will be my friends for life. It was a true cultural experience that I highly recommend to those that love to explore and learn about China's history.

With the Australian dollar been strong it was also great for shopping (a girl must always fit this in).

This weeks favourite things:)

My beautiful daughter had her 10th birthday last week. I am certainly not a cake person however very happy with how it turned out. This is an art palette (as she loves her art) with a big brush. My mum bought her an art easel with purple paint brushes - which I did not know. We must know what she loves:) She had a great day with her best friends at Scitech.

The second photo I love the boat seat which is set on beautiful decking.

Wishing you all a great week and will return to blogging after the 4th July with lots of photos from China.
